So I am back in The MindShed, writing on the blog which feels good. It has been a long time since I have carved out some time to do this but 2020 has given me the opportunity and impetus to get back to it.
The rain is tapping on the glass, George my little dog is curled up in his basket all cozy next to me and I have a lovely steaming cup of coffee. Just a little moment in time but it got me to thinking how we so often miss these little moments. lost to our thoughts, lost to planning, lost to our internal stories.
So, I invite you to be here first of all, pause for a moment, open your senses, smell, sight, sound, taste and feelings. If you have a drink with, you, savour the taste, the smell, the warmth, welcome all your senses into this experience as you come fully in to this present moment, here in this lovely little moment..........
Coaching - An ancient practice
Often coaching is seen as some new age practice but did you know it has its roots stretching back millennia? all the way back to ancient Greece.
The earliest recorded steps into the world of coaching came from the well known Greek philosopher Socrates. He was a master at asking well placed questions and opening conversations to uncover truth and knowledge.
There are many thoughts about what coaching is and it can get a little confusing. When we put it back to its roots, it becomes really clear, uncovering truth and knowledge through questioning. It goes a little further than that but is a great opener to the world of coaching.
I like to think of coaching as giving my clients the space to step out, to take a 30,000ft view on life in order to bring a sense of clarity to life.
What to expect from coaching
To be asked lots of "open" questions that do not involve yes or no answers (or maybe just a few)
To be treated with unconditional positive regard, judgement has no place in coaching
We work from present moment, forward. At times we may search for resources and strengths from your past or to let go of anything that may be holding you back but only to be able to use this positively moving forward.
To create an amazing level of self awareness.
To be carefully guided through life goal setting, working through any potential obstacles, whilst getting a fantastic vision of where you want to go.
To feel inspired, motivated and empowered in life
To learn how to take 100% responsibility for your progress and responsibility for your own life.
Nice coffee (alright I sneaked that one in, replace with your beverage)
If we are lucky we are born into this world like 100 watt bulbs shining bright. Slowly we start to form our view of the world, through many different filters. Our view of life start to get clouded over, but within you is a light shining so bright, a light of joy, contentment, it is there waiting to be uncovered.
Here at The MindShed, I offer coaching programmes from 1 session to 3 months, 6 months and 12 month duration. More details are available on the website or for more information and to book please email me at email@example.com
"I cannot teach anybody anything, I can only make them think"
We can so often get caught up in life, our stories, our thoughts, the never ending internal dialogue. It can feel so big, so overwhelming.
If life feels like it has sped up, if thoughts seem like they are controlling you, if life feels like it is pushing and pulling, it is a great invitation to remember that life is simply a series of little moments and that the only moment we can truly experience is this one.
So I invite you, perhaps over this weekend, take some pauses, experience life just in that moment, open your senses, pair it down to sight, sound, smell, taste and feeling. Experiment, be curious, how does it change that heaviness?
I wish you all a fantastic weekend from The MindShed.
